You only have a month left to register to vote in the June Primary election; and if you haven't voted in awhile, you may not still be registered.

With more than 300,000 registered voters in Tulsa County, the election board sometimes purges voters. So now is the perfect time to check your status.

Tulsa County election board secretary Patty Bryant said a lot of people only vote every four years, but some wait even longer than that.

"If you register to vote and you skip two federal elections you will be canceled. We call that purging; and the files, that's our method of keeping them cleaned up,” Bryant said.

The purging procedure is followed throughout the state.

Confirm Your Registration

Two federal elections equal eight years. As you near your purge date, a notice is mailed out to the last known address. If you don't respond, you're out of the system.

The incoming voter registrations are placed in the central file and the voter cards are mailed out.

Bryant said, "We've been especially busy with people either changing their information or being brand new voters."

Keeping track of 340,000 voters is a challenge, but the employees at the Tulsa County Election Board get it done.  Jeff Crawford is a Tulsa County one voter who tries to make their jobs easier.

"I am very prepared. I always make sure I have all my stuff lined up because it's so important that we get out and vote," he said.

Election officials say one of the biggest problems is having incorrect information in the system. That's why new and old voters should get online to make sure their info is correct.
