The National Weather Service Meteorologists are looking at more possible tornado damage in Green Country.

They already have confirmed more than a dozen tornadoes from storms last week.

New reports of damage prompted their trip today to Pittsburg County. It's still too early to tell what kind of damage they had, but the weather service office has been busy handling more than 20 storm reports.

Six days after a line of storms moved through Pittsburg County, the NWS is surveying the damage to a home near Kiowa.

The family says Friday's storm blew over one of their barns, knocked over farm equipment and uprooted trees.

"Toward the end of the event, a line of storms pushed in and it appears this storm has done some wind damage near Kiowa and maybe a brief tornado,” NWS meteorologist in charge Steve Piltz said. “That's what we're checking out."

Piltz makes sure he puts eyes on every report of damage after a storm.

But it’s not always easy. We shot most of this report from a car because landowners warned us the dogs might bite.

“That's part of the issue of getting out and watching the storms and seeing what they've done and looking at the damage, is you really never know what you're going to come across," Piltz said.

Piltz says his team looks for clues in the damage -- one sign of a tornado is uprooted trees falling in opposite directions.

Meteorologists take these damage reports and compare them with radar data from Friday night's storms.

“That's part of the science of understanding what's going on, so the next time, we're just maybe a little bit better based on knowing what happened we down here," Piltz said.

The National Weather Service encourages anyone to report possible tornado damage.
