Tulsa Musician Dies In High-Speed Motorcycle Crash, TPD Says

Tulsa police have confirmed that Steve Pryor, a local blues musician, was the victim of the fatal motorcycle crash on Friday evening.

Officers said the crash involving a southbound motorcycle and car happened just before 5:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of North Denver.

Police said Pryor hit the rear of a car, which was turning east onto Seminole Street. They said the rider was alert and talking at the scene, but he later died at a Tulsa hospital from internal injuries.  

Police said the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed just prior to the crash.

According to his band's website, Pryor has shared the stage with John Lee Hooker, Albert King, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Bonnie Raitt, Greg Allman, and Dr. John, Johnny Winter.

Steve was once described as, “Gene Autry stepping off a UFO with a Stratocaster in his hand and an Elmore James song in his heart," his website says.

Pryor had been inducted into the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame.
