Ten days remain in this legislative session, and the state's budget is still over $1 billion short.
Religious leaders and other supporters from across the state will gather on Wednesday at the State Capitol to make sure their voice is heard. They fear essential programs are now on the chopping block.
Their main concerns -- three different tax credits: Oklahoma's Earned Income Tax Credit, Sales Tax Relief Credit, and the Child Tax Credit.
Supporters say lawmakers have made proposals that threaten all three. So the religious leaders, along with the Oklahoma Policy Institute and the Regional Food Bank, will make the case that these tax credits help hundreds of thousands of low and moderate income families in the state.
The announcement will come at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Speakers are also expected to share a letter from 100 additional religious leaders who support the credits.
