Cold Front Could Produce Severe Storms Across Eastern Oklahoma

A cold front will likely spark afternoon and evening thunderstorms today. 

Some of those storms may be severe with the primary threats of large hail and damaging winds.  While the conditions are not very favorable for tornadoes, we can't entirely rule one out. 

A strong CAP is currently in place, which holds back storm development.  That should erode by late afternoon giving us the potential for storms to form as early as 5pm.  However, storms may not develop until 7pm or later near or along that cold front located near I-44 by this time frame.

Although this is a lower risk of severe weather, be weather aware for the rest of the day.

These storms could form rapidly and cause travel issues as early as the evening rush hour.  Tulsa is most at risk for seeing storms between 5pm and 10pm, although they could linger into the overnight hours.

The higher risk of severe weather lies southeast of the metro area towards sunset until about midnight.  After that, most storms are expected to weaken below severe limits.  Areas north and west of Tulsa have the lowest risk of seeing storms today.
