A Broken Arrow street that has been closed for just over three weeks due to a main sewer line break is set to reopen Friday afternoon.

According to the City of Broken Arrow, New Orleans Street between 18th and 23rd streets will be back open by 3:30 p.m.

The street was closed on April 21st after a main sewer line break. The City said an 80-foot section of line was replaced and Friday crews finished up the last of the repairs.

When the line broke, sewage spewed from manhole covers into the ditches and a creek. The City declared a natural emergency and crews jumped into action.

Crews said cleaning the creek would take more time than finishing the road. Broken Arrow is working with the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality to get the creek cleaned up.
