Craig County officials say they're ready for just about any disaster that could come their way - and it's all based on a plan that they've written themselves.

Morris Bluejacket is Craig County's Emergency Management director, and he says on Tuesday he's meeting with the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management to put the finishing touches on their plan for anything from tornadoes, to Hazmat spills, to wildfires - and just about everything in between.

It's called a  hazardous mitigation plan, and he says this is the first time that a county in Oklahoma has written their own.

Bluejacket says normally they'd have to write one first, then send it to the state. The state would send it back, then the county makes corrections, then they would send it to FEMA and down the line.

In this case he says they worked with the state and a FEMA advisor directly which saved them a lot of time.

He says they also cut down what would have been a 300 page document to about 62 pages - so if a disaster hits Craig County, they'll be ready.
