Oklahoma State concluded the regular season with a pair of Big 12 Conference baseball weekly award winners and in the process set a league record, it was announced today.

Corey Hassel was named the Big 12 Co-Player of the Week, sharing the award with Texas Tech's Eric Gutierrez, while J.R. Davis earned Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honors for the second time this season.

With the two awards, OSU set a conference record for the most weekly award winners in a season with 12. The previous high was 11, set by Baylor in 2012.

Hassel led the Cowboys to a 3-1 record last week that included a series sweep of Kansas to conclude the regular season. The senior right fielder recorded a .400 batting average, which tied for the team lead, as he went 6-for-15 at the plate with two home runs, a triple and four RBIs. He also collected a league-high 14 total bases and was second with a .933 slugging percentage.

Hassel hit safely in all four games, including a pair of multi-hit efforts, to extend his hitting streak to six games, and he has also reached base safely in 12-straight games. He picked up a pair of sacrifice bunts that both led to scores, and he collected an assist in Tuesday's game at Oral Roberts by gunning down a runner at home plate from right field to end the sixth inning in a two-run game.

In the series sweep of KU, Hassel was 5-for-12 at the plate with two homers, a triple and four RBIs. He also scored four runs and recorded a 1.083 slugging percentage to help the Cowboys secure a second-place league finish.

Davis had a standout week at the plate as OSU's leadoff hitter went 6-for-15 — the .400 average tying Hassel for the team high — and collected a double, three RBIs, three walks, four runs and a stolen base while extending a streak of reaching base safely to 13 games.

In a midweek game at Oral Roberts, Davis reached base safely four times on the strength of a career-high three walks and a hit by pitch, and he followed that with a weekend that saw him emerge as OSU's leading hitter against Kansas.

Against KU, the Cowboys' second baseman was 6-for-14 (.429) with a double and three RBIs and recorded multiple hits in the final two games, including a 3-for-5, two-RBI effort in the finale. He also played error-free ball and recorded six assists and four putouts.

Davis' hot hitting saw him raise his season batting average to .347, which ranks second on the Cowboys and is tied for seventh in the league. OSU also improved to 27-9 on the season with Davis hitting leadoff.

Today's honor marks the second time this season Davis has been named the league's newcomer of the week as he also picked up that accolade on April 4.
