Americans have been in love with cars for decades, and next month, car lovers who attend the Leake Car Auction will be able to put their money where their heart is.

President of the Leake Auction Company, Richard Sevenoaks, said they’re selling a 1957 Eldorado Biarritz convertible at next month’s auction.

"Power steering and power brakes. Can you imagine driving this big thing around without power steering," he said.

Back then, anyone who was anyone drove a Cadillac.

Sevenoaks said, "If you were a big baller in the 50s, this was the car you'd be driving around. This was the epitome of Detroit iron, the epitome of the luxury of the 50s - the Eisenhower years."

And you didn't care about the gas mileage.

"Gas mileage was not a concern. You were probably getting around six to eight miles per gallon," Sevenoaks said.

One feature of the Cadillacs of the 50s and early 60s was fins, they changed them every year. Sevenoaks said his was called the shark fin.

Under the hood there’s a 365 cubic inch engine, two four-barrel carburetors - big power plant for a big car. They only made 1,800 of them in 1957, and this is one of the survivors.

The auction is June 10th through 12th at the River Spirit Expo. You can find more information here.
