Construction Set To Begin On Former News On 6 Building

After we left the old KOTV building at 3rd and Frankfort, the question always was ‘what would become of that old building?’

We now have at least part of the answer as two trackhoes are ready to knock part of the building down.

Brad MacLaughlan has been at KOTV longer than anyone else. He started in December of 1972, but he’s a second generation employee – his dad started in 1954, back when KOTV was really two buildings.

The building on the left held offices and the studio, the second building on the far right housed the newsroom and everything else.

When they built the studio, the middle piece, they closed off an ally and it became all one building.

The day we left, in 2013, there was a newsroom. But now, the building has been stripped to the bare walls.

The owners hope partial demolition will make it more marketable in the developing of the East Village of downtown.
