GOLDSBY, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Interstate 35 is closed just south of Norman because of a fiery crash. The OHP says both north and southbound lanes of the interstate were shut down Monday morning at mile marker 104 at Goldsby, about 22 miles south of Oklahoma City. Details of the crash have not been released, but OHP says it occurred shortly before 7:30 a.m. and that there are injuries.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A man was fatally shot by Oklahoma City police outside a convenience store on the city's southwest side. Police say the man was reportedly threatening people Sunday night with a screwdriver and a knife. Police say the man was shot by one officer as he approached officers after a stun gun and a bean bag gun failed to stop him. No names have been released. The officer who shot the man is on paid leave.
McALESTER, Okla. (AP) - Authorities in southeastern Oklahoma say no injuries were reported following an early morning train derailment. Officials say a Union Pacific train derailed about 6:30 a.m. Sunday in a rural area north of Kiowa, about 105 miles southeast of Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 16 rail cars and the rear-facing locomotive derailed. Pittsburg County Emergency Management officials say that no injuries have been reported and no hazardous materials were involved.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma City officials plan to build a rapid transit bus line with a $14.4 million federal grant. The U.S. Department of Transportation funds will pay for an 8-mile bus line that will connect downtown Oklahoma City with regional medical and commercial centers on the city's northwest side. Rapid transit bus service is expected to begin in 2023. Rapid transit bus service generally makes fewer stops and has traffic signal prioritization that allows the buses to move faster.
