A young bald eagle found on a sidewalk near Guthrie Green last week continues to improve at the Tulsa Zoo. The bird was discovered Friday and has been recovering at the zoo's veterinary hospital.

The Zoo updated its Facebook page over the weekend to say the bird is alert, active, eating and moving around well. The good news is that lead testing shows normal levels, so the bird does not appear to be suffering from lead toxicity.

"We remain cautiously optimistic as we do everything we can to care for this important bird," the post states.

The eagle's blood work shows muscle damage consistent with trauma - consistent with eye-witness reports that the bird flew into a structure and fell to the ground.
