Hot This Weekend In Oklahoma, But Cooler Next Week

This afternoon highs should top in the mid 90s but with uncomfortable dew points today, heat index values should reach into the triple digits once again. We will have a south breeze around 10-20 mph to help with heat stress on the body.

It is still important to take  heat precautions and to not become overheated. We should have plenty of sunshine today as well so remember sunblock when heading outside. Stay hydrated and do not leave children or pets in vehicles.

A cool front will be approaching Sunday but should not make it into Green Country until Sunday night. Conditions will be warmer and more humid for Sunday. Highs near 97 but heat indices will be near 106. We could see a heat advisory issued for Sunday afternoon. By the evening hours, showers and storms will have developed along the cool front. They will push southward overnight along the boundary. Locations north of Highway 412 will have the best chances for showers and storms Sunday evening and Sunday night.

The cool front will continue to shift south on Monday. More widespread showers and storms are expected. It will not be as hot in the afternoon with highs in the low 90s. Dew points will still be high so heat index values will be around 100. Tuesday and Wednesday are setting up to be our driest days with more sunshine on Wednesday. More rain and storm chances are in the forecast for the end of next week including our holiday weekend.
