Two-term U.S. Congressman Jim Bridenstine has won re-election in a landslide, according to unofficial primary results.

He faced challengers Tom Atkinson and Evelyn Rogers in Tuesday’s primary, in what reports say was the most expensive Congressional race in the state.

Bridenstine and Atkinson spent more than $1 million in advertising in just a nine-week period as they vied for the District 1 seat, The Oklahoman reported this month.

Complete Election Day results

Bridenstine says he has pushed to block executive orders and rein in spending, while challenger Tom Atkinson said it was time for a new approach to get work done in Washington.

Both are veterans, object to the President's executive orders and want to repeal Obamacare.

One major difference - Bridenstine voted against the Omnibus spending bill last December, unwilling to support spending measures from across the aisle.

Atkinson says he would have supported the bill because it included 60 percent spending for the military.

Since there are no Democrats in the race, Bridenstine's victory means he won the seat outright.

U.S. Congressman Markwayne Mullin, who first was elected in 2013, beat fellow Republican Jarrin Jackson to advance to the general election. The winner of the primary will face the winner of the Democratic primary – Joshua Harris-Till, plus Independent John McCarthy in the general election.

The District 3 Republican primary decided who faces Democrat Frankie Robbins in November. Longtime Congressman Frank Lucas topped challenger Desiree Brown in Tuesday's primary.
