LeFlore County authorities arrested a 59-year-old man late Tuesday after a fatal stabbing at a home near Spiro.

According to a probable cause affidavit, deputies were called to a home on 238th Avenue at about 7 p.m. to find a man lying on the ground in the front yard.

KFSM, the CBS affiliate in Fort Smith reports the resident of the home, Larry Skelton told deputies Dwayne Skelton had accidentally fallen on a knife.

Inside the home, deputies talked to a witness who said Dwayne Skelton had come to the home to complain about comments Larry Skelton had made about the victim's wife, the affidavit states.

During a confrontation, the witness said Larry Skelton stabbed Dwayne Skelton. After Dwayne fell to the ground and Larry positioned the knife to make it look like the Dwayne had fallen on it.

When questioned again, deputies said Larry Skelton changed his story, saying Dwyane Skelton had hit him with a board, so he stabbed him, but did not mean to stab him that bad, according to the affidavit.

Larry Skelton was booked into the LeFlore County jail on a complaint of second-degree murder.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation assisted the sheriff's office with the investigation.
