WAGONER, Oklahoma -

Wagoner County officially has a new sheriff-elect.

The election board counted a few remaining ballots Friday, the end result is that Chris Elliott got enough votes to prevent a run-off.

In total, 5,625 ballots were cast in the sheriff election in Wagoner County.  A candidate must get at least 50 percent of those votes plus one more vote to be declared an outright winner.

On Friday afternoon, election board officials announced after counting a few remaining provisional ballots Chris Elliott had gotten 50 percent plus two votes total.

Former Tulsa County Sheriff's deputy Shannon Clark received 1,972 votes which was 35 percent, Allen Streeter received 838 which was 15 percent.

Squeaking out a win over Allen Streeter and Shannon Clark.  Both Clark and Streeter had until 5 p.m. Friday to challenge the results.  Neither did, so Elliott becomes the sheriff-elect in Wagoner County.

"That's something that I don't take lightly, that's a huge responsibility that 50 percent of the people in Wagoner County have put their trust in to me, and I am eager to step up to the plate and show them that we can restore the trust and integrity back to the Wagoner County Sheriff's office that it solely deserves," Elliott said.

The next step is for the county commissioners to swear in Elliott.
