Residents in Major County felt a significant jolt after an earthquake struck late Friday afternoon.

The 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck at approximately 4:31 p.m. Its epicenter was located 15 miles north, northwest of Fairview, 40 miles west of Enid, and 44 miles east of Woodward. It was about three miles deep.

An hour later, another 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck in the same area.

Just after 9:00 p.m., a 4.4 magnitude earthquake struck again near Fairview. Its epicenter was located 18 miles northwest of Fairview, 37 miles east of Woodward, and 45 miles of Enid. It was about five and a half miles deep.

Around 9:51 p.m., a smaller earthquake was recorded near Fairview. It was most likely an aftershock of the 4.4 magnitude earthquake.

At this time, no one has reported any damages or injuries associated with any of these earthquakes.
