Disaster Help Approved For 7 Oklahoma Counties After June Storms

Posted: Updated:
OKLAHOMA CITY -

Disaster assistance has been approved for home and business owners in seven Oklahoma counties after flooding and severe storms hit last month.

The aid will be provided by the U.S. Small Business Administration, which offers low-interest disaster loans to replace property damaged by the storm not covered by insurance or other assistance programs.

Caddo, Comanche, Cotton, Grady, Kiowa, Stephens and Tillman are eligible for assistance.

One county included in Gov. Mary Fallin's request for SBA help, Garvin, was not approved for the designation.

Oklahoma requested the SBA declaration on Thursday after the Federal Emergency Management Agency denied the governor's request for individual assistance.
