The search for several missing pets in Lindsay, led to more than 100 animals discovered in one home.

Now, a large animal cruelty investigation is underway, and deputies say this isn't the owner's first warning.

At this point, deputies don't believe any of the missing pets were inside the home, but they're concerned because the owner was previously charged in 2012 with animal cruelty. She now faces similar charges.

Garvin County investigators said made they made the discovery by chance. Outside the home the yard is overgrown, but inside investigators found it to be overrun with more than 100 animals of all kinds.

For the past week, several Lindsay residents reported their pets missing.

A tip led the investigation to a home near Southwest 10th and Choctaw Street. It’s where county investigators were told they'd find dozens of animals living inside.

“We have over 102 small animals in the backyard of this house. That’s a large number of animals,” said Garvin County Sheriff Larry Rhodes.

The animals removed from the home include 66 cats, 12 dogs, rabbits, plus several exotics animals and a bird.

Garvin County law enforcement were forced to remove the animals with a search warrant, after they say, the owner became uncooperative with their investigation that began Wednesday, July 13.

“She was trying to rescue animals in this part of the state that were being abandoned, that were being strayed,” said Sheriff Rhodes.

It took several hours for Lindsay police and county investigators to remove the animals from the home.

Curious neighbors watched from the street wondering if their missing pet may be inside.

“While her heart was in the right place, she wasn't going about this in the right way,” Sheriff Rhodes said.

All 102 animals are now in temporary homes where they will soon be up for adoption.
