An Oklahoma dirt bike racer takes his skills to the national level.

Davi Collins is just 5 years old and he’s training for the super bowl of all motocross races, and he’s the youngest from Oklahoma this year to do it.

The kindergartener hasn't met a track he couldn't handle. He got on a bike when he was just 3.5 years old and never looked back.

“Everybody is pretty surprised with being 5 years old and I mean he's keeping up with 7- and 8-year-olds,” said Brandi Davis, Davi’s mother.

Davi has competed in hundreds of races across the state since then.

“We spend weekend after weekend going to tracks,” Davis said. “Some families are at the lake or some families are going on vacations, these are our vacation times.”

Davi is following in his mother’s footsteps. Davis is a former motocross racer herself, teaching her son everything she knows.

Davi isn't shy to show us how it's paid off, more times than not, he leaves the track with a trophy, sometimes two. He was shy to tell us how he felt about racing and instead showed us on a small track behind his Blanchard home.

“It's a bit nerve racking, when the gate drops you're just praying that they make it from start to the checkered flag you know, safely,” said Davis.

He takes the turns and jumps with ease, precision riding that has qualified him to race in the largest amateur motocross race in the world, the 35th Annual Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Amateur National Motocross Championship.

It’s held at the historic Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. However, it's expensive, so the family is raising money to pay the $600 entrance fee and to make the trip.

“It would mean the world,” Davis said. “Not very many children get a chance to go here.”

As for Davi, when asked what he needs to do to win?

“Go fast,” he said.

The week-long event runs August 1 to 6. The Collins family has opened a PayPal account for anyone wanting to help Davi get to nationals, just contact Brandi at Taynaid@yahoo.com.
