Bixby has a tree debris disposal site open since there are so many with uprooted trees and downed limbs.

It’s at 131st Street, between Mingo and Garnett. There was a long line on Sunday, and many were waiting in it more than once.

"This is the fifth trip,” Dirk Sams said. “I have one more.”

Waiting is just part of the process.

"Cleanin' up, cuttin' up, pilin' up, then stack'n' up, then load'n up, then unloadin', but we're done,” Jim Sistanich said. “Cold beer time now."

While everyone is eager to get the debris out of their yards, Sams is thrilled to see his tree go.

"It was a cursed tree from the very beginning,” he said.

He says the tree has caused nothing but trouble.

“Because it's a Bradford Pear. You hate Bradford Pears," Sams said.

He's among dozens from all over town taking advantage of the first day of the debris site.

"In every neighborhood, we do have damage, particularly the neighborhoods with older, taller trees,” Bixby City Manager Jared Cottle said.

With so much tree debris, city workers say it's important to keep pushing everything back before the pile gets too big.

"It looks like it's probably piled 40-50 feet deep,” Mike Withrow said.

Bixby residents can drop off debris from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. during the week, and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. during the weekend.

"Then it's cold beer-thirty," Sistanich said.

The debris site will be open for the rest of the month.
