MUSKOGEE COUNTY, Oklahoma - A Fort Gibson woman is dead after a two-car wreck in Muskogee County Monday night. Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers investigated the fatality crash that took place around 8 p.m. on Highway 62 at 2 Mile Road.

Troopers said Regan Thompson was northbound on 2 Mile Road when she failed to yield at the marked median and pulled into the pathway of a westbound car.

The driver of that car, 45-year-old Bret Adams of Tahlequah, was taken to the hospital where troopers said he is stable with internal injuries. His passenger, 66-year-old Johnie Oakball, was pronounced dead at the scene by Cherokee Nation EMS, according to a collision report.

Troopers said both drivers were wearing seat belts.  They list the cause of the crash as failure to yield from yield sign.
