BRISTOW, Oklahoma -

A 21-year-old man charged in the stabbing death of a teenage co-worker in Bristow told police the teen tried to attack him after giving him a ride home from work. He also said the 17-year-old was still alive when he left him under a bridge outside town.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, Dakota Spainhower told detectives Devin Lundberg gave him a ride home from work on July 18th, and during the ride Lundberg stabbed him and tried to rob him.

Spainhower told detectives he then broke off the knife blade and stabbed Lundberg about five times.

Spainhower told detectives that he went inside his home and told his mother Lundberg tried to rob him. He took his mother's cell phone away, and she walked to the ambulance station for help, police said.

Court records show Lundberg was able to get out of his car into Spainhower's driveway where police later found some articles of clothing and blood. Spainhower put the 17-year-old into the back seat of the car and drove to a county bridge southeast of Bristow, the affidavit states.

Police said Spainhower told them "Lundberg was still alive and was able to stand with assistance" when he "carried Lundberg under the bridge and shoved him underneath the bridge."

That's where detectives later found the teen's body.

The affidavit states Spainhower asked another co-worker that same day if the co-worker could ever stab anyone. He was found with the keys to Lundberg's car in his pockets, the investigating officer said.

Spainhower was charged last week with first-degree murder.
