Documents obtained by News On 6 show a former Tulsa County deputy accused of rape was the subject of an internal investigation last year.

Josh Wood, 33, was charged this week in Wagoner County with rape by instrumentation of an 11-year-old girl.

According to the documents we obtained, Wood was hired by the Tulsa Sheriff's Office as a detention officer in February 2013.

In a resignation letter dated January 11, 2016, Wood wrote, "While I have enjoyed my position and am extremely grateful for the opportunity given to me, I must now move forward and pursue other opportunities."

The letter came just a little over a month after his administrative leave notice, dated November 30, 2015, saying, “Effective immediately, you are on administrative leave with pay until the sheriff's office internal affairs unit has reviewed your case."

However, no documents regarding that internal affairs case were released to us.

Employee documents show Wood was hired by the sheriff's office back in 2013 as a detention officer and promoted to a deputy in 2014.

According to Oklahoma court records, an emergency protective order was issued against Wood in September 2013, banning him from going near a woman and her two children. A few weeks later that woman had the order dismissed.

Wednesday, that same woman filed another protective order against Wood, this time protecting her and one of her children.

Wood was arrested on Tuesday and bonded out of jail shortly after.

We've made another public records request asking for the specific documents linked to the internal investigation against Wood.

Wagoner County court records show Wood has a court appearance set for August 24, 2016.
