BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma -

A Broken Arrow man suggested a lesser charge for himself after being arrested for stealing from a neighbor, according to police.  David Little, 28, is in the Tulsa County Jail on complaints of first-degree burglary and knowingly possessing stolen property.

Police said a homeowner in the 6200 block of 120th East Avenue called them Tuesday afternoon after finding several tools missing from his garage. The victim said his two young sons were home alone when someone entered the side door to his garage.

He told officers he'd seen neighbor David Little looking into the windows of his home and trying to get in about a week before.

While police were taking the report, they saw Little walk out of a nearby house with a large gym bag. The officer said Little saw them and turned around and went back inside, the arrest report states.

Police said they talked to Little's mother who aware her son was "desperate for money" and gave them consent to search. Police found the gym bag with several power tools inside, the report states. They said they also found other power tools, a mechanic's hand tool set and a loaded firearm inside the house.

The arresting officer said when he told Little he was under arrest for first-degree burglary, the 28-year-old man said, "shouldn't it be grand larceny since I just went into the garage?"

Broken Arrow police said they recovered an Oklahoma driver's license in Little's wallet that was reported stolen in a Tulsa armed robbery.
