After the New York Knicks relieved him from his head coaching duties halfway through this past season, it looks like former Thunder guard Derek Fisher is eyeing a potential return to the NBA. But here's the kicker: the soon-to-be 42-year-old want's to return as a player, not a coach, according to ESPN's Ian Begley.

According to the report, Fisher has "been exploring options and expressing interest in playing again." Fisher himself posted a video on Instagram of him working out and added the hashtag "Imnotdoneyet."

Fisher last played for the Thunder in the 2013-14 season after spending the majority of his 18-year NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he won five NBA Championships. Fisher played in 81 games during his final year in OKC and averaged 5.2 points per game but shot only 39 percent from the field.

It'll be interesting to see how many if any teams take a flyer on Fisher, who's most recently been an analyst on NBATV after coaching 136 games (40-96) for the Knicks.

Here's what Fisher himself tweeted on Wednesday about the report:

If an NBA team expresses interest, I'm open to dialogue, but at the moment I have no steadfast plan to play again. (2/2)
