Two Earthquakes Reported Early Wednesday

The U.S. Geological Survey reports another earthquake was felt in Oklahoma Wednesday morning. The preliminary reports are that the 4.0 magnitude quake took place at 6:04 a.m. near Luther.

At 7:20 a.m., a second earthquake was reported about 14 miles east-southeast of Cherokee. The preliminary magnitude is 2.8, the USGS reports.

Three earthquakes rattled residents in Garfield County Tuesday afternoon.

A 3.5 magnitude quake first struck at 4:46 p.m. 16 miles west southwest of Perry, Okla. at a depth of three miles. 

Less than 10 second later a second earthquake, a 3.9 magnitude, was recorded about 15 and a half miles west southwest of Perry, Okla. at a depth of a mile.

Then nearly 10 minutes later, a 3.5 magnitude quake struck 16 miles west southwest of the town of Perry, Okla. at a depth of about two and a half miles.

No damage or injuries have been reported with the quakes.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely with quakes at magnitudes of 4.0 and greater.
