OHP Releases Name Of Man Killed Walking On Tulsa Highway

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a Carney, Oklahoma man was killed when he was struck by an SUV on Interstate-44 in east Tulsa.

Troopers said 48-year-old Tony Dee Carter was walking west in the eastbound lane of the interstate just east of the 129th East Avenue exit when he was hit at 4:20 a.m.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The OHP report said the driver of the 2002 Chevy Tahoe, Juan Ortiz, 30, of Tulsa was not injured.  They said Ortiz tried to swerve to miss Carter, but couldn't.

All eastbound lanes of I-44 were closed for four hours during the OHP's investigation.
