A Gathering Place named a new leader to open the park which is now under construction along the river. The new park director is named Tony Moore.

Moore will also handle operations for Guthrie Green downtown.

We met Tony Moore at the construction site.

"This is such a quality park, and it's kind of like something you're handed that you have to take to the next level," Moore said.

Moore is from Florida and was not surprised by the afternoon shower that moved us inside, where the walls are papered with plans for the park he's going to open and run.

"It's interesting because I've never seen this much content in one place without an admission price attached to it," said Gathering Place Park Director Tony Moore.

"Culturally. for me. that was a transition I had to get used to; so that just speaks to the selection of content, world class content from all over the world, well positioned, with great diversity."

Moore is married with two young children and a native of Jamaica who moved to the U.S. for college. He was last at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo, the chief operating officer, before that SeaWorld and Universal.

"It's a little of everything so I was fortunate to have a wide range of experiences," he said.

Now, he said he hopes to use that experience to develop the potential of A Gathering Place, as the construction concludes a little more than a year from now.

"It's just so much to be offered and be enjoyed, and I really hope that all Tulsans will have an opportunity to appreciate this," he said.
