Ten people are dead and tens of thousands cannot return home after historic rain and flooding hit southern Louisiana.

While the rain has stopped, the bayou is so full of water that the flooding is now slowly working its way downstream and many rivers are still rising.

That means that even more people are in danger, and Oklahomans are among those answering the call for help.

The American Red Cross in Oklahoma is preparing to send four emergency response vehicles to the affected areas. 12 volunteers will go and help hand out more than 12,000 meals a day.

"Anything that anyone would need during the day, we are going to make sure that those families are going to have those resources and those needs provided to them," said volunteer services specialist, Cindy Webster.

If you want to donate, you can go to redcross.org or text LAFLOODS to 9099 for $10 donation. You can also go into any Red Cross center and make either a blood or financial donation.

The Southern Baptist Disaster Relief in Oklahoma is also sending help to flood victims in Baton Rouge.

The relief organization will send 60 volunteers and a large feeding unit, which will be based at a church in Baton Rouge.

The feeding unit can provide up to 30,000 meals each day.

The Oklahoma Blood Institute is also collecting donations to send to Louisiana.
