Scattered showers around Green Country will continue into the evening. The best chances today for showers and storms are south of Interstate 44, mainly east and southeast of Tulsa. Tonight, besides a few lingering showers, it should be a quiet and humid night.

Showers should develop again in the morning south of Tulsa and then expand northward by late morning/early afternoon. Take rain gear with you tomorrow.

All the while, we are waiting on a cool front to arrive. The cool front could start to enter into northeastern Oklahoma by Friday afternoon. If that happens, there will be a chance for a few strong thunderstorms in the afternoon northwest of Tulsa.

The rest of the area will be dealing with scattered showers and a few non-severe thunderstorms. As the front moves in, rain chances will increase and the highest chances will be Friday night into Saturday morning. Outdoor activities in the early morning hours of Saturday might have to have a back-up indoor plan, especially north of Interstate 40.

The front will continue moving south and by late afternoon on Saturday, most of the rain and storms will be across southeastern Oklahoma. Our Saturday could be salvaged if the front picks up speed and moves the rain a little faster.
Either way, if you aren’t able to catch a break on Saturday, you’ll have Sunday to look forward to. It will be dry, mostly sunny, have a light northeast wind, and highs in the mid-80s.

That’s considered a perfect August day, if you ask me!
