A boy was injured Monday afternoon in a shooting in Enid, police said.

About 3:20 p.m., police were called to 7th Street and Cherokee in reference to shots being fired.

Officers found an 11-year-old boy shot in the 300 block of South 7th Street and took him to a St. Mary's Hospital.

The boy was shot in the finger and shoulder. After his initial treatment, the boy was taken to an Oklahoma City hospital, police said.

Witnesses told police they saw a dark blue or gray vehicle parked on 7th Street. A passenger got out of the vehicle and fired multiple rounds toward the west and went back to the vehicle which drove eastbound, according to witness statements.

The passenger was described as a white male wearing a red hat, red shirt and possibly blue jeans or blue jean shorts.
