Tulsans Return From Switzerland Where They Discussed Impact Of Race Riot

Tulsa's past could impact the future of race relations around the world.

A group of Tulsans, who recently returned from an international conference in Switzerland, shared their experience at the Tulsa Historical Society Thursday.

They were invited to Switzerland to talk about the 1921 Race Riots so other countries can learn from the things Tulsa's done right since then and avoid some of the mistakes we've made.

"To speak to people about racial conflict, tribal conflict, and relate our stories of what happens when you don't talk about it and how you move towards reconciliation, and equal rights and justice for all," said Tulsa Historical Society and Museum executive director, Michelle Place.

The group hopes this is just one of many conversations about improving race relations not just here, but around the globe.
