Broken Arrow police arrested a 41-year-old man early Wednesday after a four-and-a-half hour standoff.

He was identified as Jack Campbell.

Police said at about 9 p.m. officers were called to the 6300 block of South 116th East Avenue after a woman said she had been assaulted.  The victim met police about two blocks from the home where she told officers Jack Campbell had struck her and tried to choke her when she and her brother showed up at the home.

She said Campbell also threatened her with a knife and a gun and would hurt officers if they showed up. The victim and the brother then ran from the house.
Police went to the home and made contact with Jack Campbell, who refused to come outside.  At about 1:30 a.m. police Corporal Leon Calhoun said officers broke a window, entered the home and convinced Campbell to surrender.

Calhoun said the victim was treated for minor injuries.

A neighbor, who said he knows both Campbell and the victim, says she was a very sweet person and Campbell often helped people with odd jobs in the neighborhood.

"You know the kids always love him.  He'll give them stuff all the time like toys and stuff he finds that he's got in his garage. So it is surprising and it's sad," said Cody Waller.

Jack Campbell was arrested booked into the Tulsa County jail on complaints of domestic assault and battery by strangulation and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Jail records show he has a court appearance set for September 22nd.
