The International Day of Peace celebration at Tulsa Community College turned into a way to remember Terence Crutcher Wednesday.

TCC planned the day months ago, but as of the controversial death of their student, the school decided to also take the day to remember Terence as a student whose hopes and dreams started to take shape on campus.

The planned day of peace turned into a day of reflection and mourning after the death of TCC student Terence Crutcher.

“This college community, its faculty, our staff, and its students are deeply saddened by Terence's tragic death," they said.

Faculty and students lined the courtyard of the Southeast campus to take a pause for peace.

TCC audio engineering teacher, Jeff Smith said, "The man was in this room studying with me and now his dreams will not come true, and it's just really, really hard."

Smith spent a semester with Crutcher and remembers him as a man with dreams.

Smith: "Terence was a gentle giant, very soft spoken. He wanted to be a singer-songwriter, just an all-around neat guy."
Erin: “How does it feel to have this happen where you live, to someone you know and were close with?
Smith: “Rough..."You just got to wonder why. It's really hard when it's someone you know and you care about."

And even for those who didn't know Terence, the Day of Peace brought some of that into their day when so much of the dialogue has been anything but.
