Water service has been restored to the Lexington Correctional Center and Joseph Harp Correctional Center after crews worked through the night to replace the prisons' primary water pump.

Oklahoma prison officials said Sunday that although two pumps remain shut down, the four operating pumps will allow both facilities to resume normal day-to-day functions. The other two pumps are scheduled to be replaced next week.

The water pumps were back online at about 11 p.m. Saturday after failing earlier in the day, and both facilities returned to normal operations by 2 a.m. Sunday. No meals were missed and inmates were given bottled drinking water.

Department of Corrections Director Joe M. Allbaugh says repair crews worked quickly to ensure that water service was restored. The cost of the repairs hasn't been determined.
