Oklahoma is 1-2 for the first time since 2005, but at his weekly press conference on Monday, head football coach Bob Stoops stressed that the Sooners' problems on the field can't be blamed on culture issues in the program.

“The culture’s here, the guys the way they work in the out of season, sometimes you get some tough breaks and you don’t execute and play as well as you thought you would, that doesn’t mean the culture’s broke," Coach Stoops said. "That was the theme two years ago, then we go to the playoffs and win the Big 12 Championship and it isn’t again. It never was.

"My point is, the culture’s been the same here a long time, but that doesn’t mean you win the same every year and that doesn’t mean you execute the same every year. So no I don’t think it’s much different, it's just we haven’t played as well.”

Stoops didn't appear to be defeated despite his team's slow start, and stressed there's still a lot to play for.

“We’ve won a lot of championships around here with a couple of losses," he said. "Keep fighting, keep improving, the better teams continue to improve throughout the year and that’s what we have to do. We have to keep improving this week to next week.”
