Osage SkyNews 6 HD: Tulsa Black Hawk Helicopter On Interesting Training Mission

Osage SkyNews 6 HD captured video Thursday morning of an Oklahoma Army National Guard helicopter on an interesting training mission.

The Black Hawk helicopter was using a heli-basket to carry a John Deere tractor to a remote location so it could be used for mowing. The tractor was secured inside the basket while the mower deck was secured inside the chopper.

Osage SkyNews 6 HD pilot Will Kavanagh, who also flies Black Hawks as a member of the Army National Guard, said the basket has many uses. It can carry equipment as it did on Thursday, or it can carry as many as 15 people.

Kavanagh said the basket could be used in the event of a fire in one of Tulsa's skyscrapers to rescue people from the roof. He said that's why it's important for the Army National Guard troops to train in this manner.
