A Few Storms Moving In Before Cool Fall Weekend In Green Country

Our next round of thunderstorms comes this evening and overnight for Green Country. These storms will be more isolated in nature so many spots will miss out on rainfall.

However, any storms that do form could produce large hail and locally damaging winds.

The greatest threat will lie north of Tulsa after dark tonight as a warm front lifts northward into Kansas.

The more substantial round of thunderstorms will come late on Thursday for a good portion of eastern Oklahoma.

A strong cold front will push into northeast Oklahoma and southeast Kansas by evening, with strong to locally severe thunderstorms lined up along the front.

While storms may lose some intensity after initially forming in central and southern Kansas, they still may bring high winds to northeast Oklahoma. They are most likely to arrive around Tulsa between 9 p.m. and midnight, with areas further southeast likely to see the rain and storms overnight into early Friday morning.

Most of Thursday will be dry, outside of an isolated shower or storm mainly northwest of Tulsa during the day.

The cold front will drop temperatures from highs around 90 degrees Thursday afternoon to readings in the 50s with a brisk north wind Friday morning. This will set us up for nice, cool fall weather as we head into the weekend.
