Football player and med student, that's not a line you see crossed often. But Golden Hurricane defensive tackle Jerry Uwaezuoke is trying to do just that.

"I plan to take the GRE and the MCAT come this coming January," said Uwaezuoke.

Uwaezuoke is planning to go to med school next year.

"At this point, I'd want to work with either trauma or pediatrics," stated Uwaezuoke.

He's already got his undergrad, so now he's just preparing for the tests. But preparing in the middle of football season is a whole new animal.

"I have biochemistry at 11:00, and then calculus at 1:00, so then I'll eat between those two, and then go to practice," he explained.

Practice gets done around 5:45 p.m. and then it's off to business law until 8:45 p.m.

"Then go home, eat," Uwaezuoke added.

And that's even with something off the list. "Not going to lie, I save the studying for other days," he said.

"Oh yeah that sounds like a lot,” said his teammate Keevan Lucas. “I didn't know he had all that going on."

So one day soon, Uwaezuoke may go from sacking quarterbacks to saving them.
