ONG Settling House Explosion Case For $1 Million

The Oklahoma Natural Gas (ONG) has reached a settlement of $1,010,000 in a house explosion case, News 9 confirmed Wednesday morning.

ONG has already started reviewing the pipeline in the neighborhood and has also started several repairs, but they don't expect the review be done until the end of the year. The settlement isn't official until commissioners approve it. They're hoping to have it approved either Nov. 1 or 3. 

The Oklahoma Corporation Commission says ONG failed to follow state and federal pipeline safety rules, failing to monitor gas leaks on their pipeline. They say because of that a home on Whispering Hollow Drive in northwest Oklahoma City exploded back in January. The home was destroyed and others were damaged. One person was hurt.

The 27-page complaint was filed last month.  

The hearing on the complaint took place at 9 a.m. at the Corporation Commission headquarters. The maximum fine ONG could face is $8.5 million.
