The calendar may say it’s October, but the weather will be anything but October-like as we roll on into a very warm and windy Sunday across eastern Oklahoma!

Much like Saturday, gusty south winds will once again be one of the biggest issues today, with gusts over 30 miles per hour possible at times. Hang on to your hats! Some areas of low clouds may develop across far eastern and southeastern Oklahoma during the day, but overall we expect to see quite a bit more widespread sunshine than we saw for most of our Saturday.

With those sunnier skies in place, expect our afternoon highs to soar to near 90 degrees, which is nearly 20 degrees above normal for this time of year! Humidity levels will also be somewhat uncomfortable, so treat today like it is a summer day and make sure you stay hydrated!

Also, please be aware that your car temperatures can still get very hot this time of year, even though you might not be thinking about it. Please don't leave your kids or pets in your car unattended over the next few days, as temperatures could get dangerously hot in your car very quickly.

Those strong south winds will not calm down much as we head into Monday, which will keep our lows again very warm in the low 70s. Sunnier skies will continue on Monday with high temperatures again soaring to 90 degrees or above with heat index values well into the 90s. If we climb higher than 90 degrees in Tulsa on Monday, that would be a new record high for that date! Sheesh!

So where in the world did our fall weather go? Well for those of you wanting the crisp fall air we had recently to come back, just be patient for a few days! After this unseasonably hot weather to start the work week, we should see a gradual trend down in temperatures as another cold front approaches by Wednesday with a chance for a few showers and storms, followed by much more seasonable weather by the latter half of next week.

In the meantime, stay cool out there!
