A drug sweep in Grady County put eight people in jail.

After 10 months of an investigation led by the District Attorney’s Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, all arrests were made at once.

Friday morning before sunrise, between 50 and 75 law enforcement officers met to serve the warrants. Four homes were searched. Eight people were arrested, 6 women and 2 men.

Their names are Alicia Lopez, Corey Westbury, Lacey Montgomery, Lauren Waitman, Natalie Kirkland, Ray King, Sharee Taylor and Tiffany Phillips. They are each facing multiple counts of distributing drugs. Cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin were amongst the types of drugs.

Grady County District Attorney Jason Hicks said this was a dangerous operation.

“Violence goes along with the drug trade. Guns are common in the drug trade as well,” Hicks said everything went smooth on Friday and suspects complied.

The long investigation involved undercover officers and others known as “snitches” to go in and buy drugs from these homes.

“Generally, we will go in and do more than just one buy. We’ll do multiple buys and put our cases together and it takes a little bit of time.”

Hicks says this was one big investigation, but all eight arrests are separate cases.

“We found baggies, scales, all those things that indicate the sale of some type of narcotic here inside our community,” said Hicks.

His biggest concern is the seven children in the homes while this was happening. DHS was involved to make sure the children are safe. He hopes by putting these suspects away, the kids can now grow up in a better environment.

“It means a lot to get people like this off the street,” Hicks said, “If you do this here in Grady County, we’re going to eventually track you down.”

Some of the individuals had their first appearances today, while others will be held on Monday.

The agencies involved in executing the warrants include the Grady County District Attorney’s Office, Chickasha Police Department, Grady County Sheriff’s Office, Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs, Grady County Criminal Justice Authority, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Department of Corrections ~ Probation and Parole, and a deputy assigned to the Task Force by the Caddo County Sheriff’s Office.
