Volunteers, Tulsa Students Create Garden To Help Bees And Butterflies

Volunteers from Tulsa Community College teamed up with Grogg's Green Barn to plant fruits and vegetables at Tulsa MET High School on Tuesday.

They got some help from the students there.

The project is meant to foster bees and butterflies and other pollinators.  The gardens will also provide the students with fresh produce.

"We started out the project thinking we would be helping our pollinators and butterflies and bees and stuff like that, but we ended up helping all these kids as well. And that really feels good," said Monica Evans, TCC Phi Beta Kappa member.

That area of Tulsa is considered a food desert because it lacks access to fresh fruits and vegetables.
