Tulsa Police arrested a man they say is responsible for a series of hit-and-run wrecks Thursday morning near 91st and Yale.

Police said the driver almost hit a deputy as well. The deputy pulled over 37-year-old Joshua Garrett in a nearby parking lot. Casey Roebuck, spokesperson for Tulsa County Sheriff's Office, said it was obvious Garrett had been doing drugs because even though he was the only person in his car, he thought a bunch of people were in the car trying to beat him up and that he was being chased by motorcycles.

"The guy jumps out of his car, starts opening up all the doors to the vehicle, yelling that 'they're in my car; they're trying to get me; there are professionals on motorcycles who are trying to get me,'" she said.

Authorities said Garrett ran into other vehicles on his commute - one near 91st and Sheridan, one at 95th and Yale and along 91st between Yale and Sheridan. He told the deputy he did meth for the first time that morning.

"Other motorists were stopping by saying, 'I saw him driving erratically; he almost hit me,'" Roebuck said.

TCSO was glad no one else was hurt and said it shows what kind of impact drugs can have when you're behind the wheel.

"It goes to speak to the manic state that people on drugs are under and the danger to the public that that poses," said Casey Roebuck, Tulsa County Sheriff's Office.

He was booked on complaints of DUI drugs, three counts of hit and run, reckless driving and failure to stop at a stop light.

No one was injured.
