Oklahoma State stepped up on its homecoming, dishing No. 10 West Virginia its first loss of the season Saturday afternoon at Boone Pickens Stadium.

Both teams exchanged field goals early to make it 3-all with 7:03 remaining in the first quarter.

After finding some offense with James Washington, the Cowboys advanced up the field and put Ben Grogan, once again, in field goal range.

And with a 25-yarder OSU took a 6-3 lead with just over a minute before the second.

Opening the second quarter, the Mountaineers capped a 12-play, five-minute drive with an end zone appearance after Skylar Howard connected with Shelton Gibson. Gibson burnt OSU's Kenneth Edison-McGruder on the play to put West Virginia up, 10-6.

After Vincent Taylor stripped Howard, forcing a turnover and setting the Cowboys up inside the 10, the offense capitalized off the possession and answered back when Mason Rudolph found Chris Lacy who helped OSU get back in front with a 13-10 edge.

With 15 seconds before the half, Jalen McCleskey scored on an impressive drive to give OSU a 20-10 advantage.

Both Oklahoma State and West Virginia's defense opened the third quarter strong, denying scoring attempts.

That was until midway through the half when Ramon Richards picked off a pass and put the Cowboys in scoring position, making up for a dropped ball earlier in the game.

On the next play, Rudolph drove into the end zone to advance OSU's lead 27-10.

The Mountaineers answered back with a 12-yard run from Howard to cut their deficit, 27-17, getting them back within 10 with 14:50 remaining in the fourth quarter.

West Virginia soon added a 21-yard field goal with eight minutes left to play, trimming OSU's lead to seven.

But OSU turned it up a notch with a scoring pass from Rudolph to Lacy to put the Cowboys back up by two touchdowns (34-20) with 5:15 on the clock.

With the clock ticking down, the Mountaineers suffered their third turnover on an OSU interception by Kevin Henry.

At this point, pistols were firing and West Virginia's winning streak was coming to end.

On the next play, Chris Carson busted through tackles before being brought down just short of the goal line. The play led to a Grogan field goal, tacking on three more points with 1:34 to play.

OSU held its 37-20 lead to win. The victory marked No. 100 for Head Coach Mike Gundy. And of course, in Gundy fashion, he danced in celebration.
