Tulsa Police arrested a murder suspect after a standoff Thursday morning.

Police arrested 19-year-old Deonta Mullins. Police say he’s the third person charged in the murder of his brother, Marquis Mullins, in August.

Prosecutors charged him with first-degree murder back in August. Thursday, when the fugitive task force asked Mullins to surrender, they say he initially begged them to kill him.

The fugitive task force, with help from Tulsa police on the ground and in the air, worked fast to get Mullins in custody. He's the third person wanted in the August 23rd shooting death of East Central football player Marquis Mullins.

"We were attempting to serve that warrant when he fled out of a window and into the neighborhood," said Corporal Gene Watkins with the Tulsa Fugitive Task Force.

The day Marquis died, police say his brother, along with two other suspects, fired shots at people walking down the street. When the group tried to speed away, an unknown person started shooting at the van.

The bullet hit Marquis and killed him.

Watkins said Deonta had been hiding out at his parents’ house.

The corporal also said when asked to come out, Deonta instead asked officers to shoot him, but eventually took off.

"He jumped a few fences, everybody did," Watkins said.

A homicide suspect running through the neighborhood put police on edge and even forced the lockdown of a school.

From street to street, patrol cars blocked off roads; at one point officers detained Deonta's father.

"Anytime you have this kind of situation you try to keep everyone for everyone’s safety. You want to make sure nothing escalates, so he was just being detained until his son was taken into custody," Watkins said.

Police said after chasing Deonta, he eventually ran back to his parents’ house.

Watkins said, "Fortunately for us, and the suspect, everything went smoothly, and he'll have his day in court."

The other suspects, Christian Smith and Zaire Ross, have been in jail since late August.

Oklahoma law says if a person dies while committing a felony, the people they are with can be charged with murder even if they didn't kill them.
