OSU's Grogan Named Lou Groza Award Semifinalist

Oklahoma State kicker Ben Grogan is one of 20 players who has been named a semifinalist for the 2016 Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission announced today.

Grogan, a senior from Arlington, Texas, became OSU's all-time leading scorer this year, passing former OSU Cowboy and current Dallas Cowboy great Dan Bailey. He has also broken Bailey's school records for PATs made and attempted in a career. Grogan's 396 career points also rank as the second most among any active player in college football.

A four-year starter, Grogan has made 10 of his last 11 field goal attempts and 19 of his last 22. He has made 14 of his 17 field goal attempts this season with a long of 45 yards, and he has made 63 of 83 attempts in his career with a long of 47 yards.

Having also been named a semifinalist in 2014, Grogan is one of eight players on the list to be named a semifinalist at least twice.

A group of FBS head coaches, SIDs, media members, former Groza finalists, and current NFL kickers will narrow the list to three finalists, which will be announced on Nov. 22 and honored at the 25th annual Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Awards Banquet on Dec. 5. The winner will be announced live on ESPN at the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Dec. 8.
