Downtown Tulsa is going through a transformation when it comes to housing.

On Sunday, the Tulsa Foundation for Architecture showed off 13 different living spaces and let people take a peek inside a potential new home.

James Lawrence and Judy Gadlage are two of nearly 1,000 people who took the tour, called Dwell In The IDL.

"We're in a newer home now and there's a lot of pluses to that, but we do love the history of Tulsa," said Judy Gadlage.

They took a look at The Edge, which offers brand new apartments and a view of the Tulsa skyline.

Between the appliances and the pool, there's a lot for everyone to look at.

Another stop on the tour: the Fox Hotel and Annex, which is the oldest building in the Brady District.

The apartments inside are bigger than the hotel rooms in 1906 but the doors in the hallway are still in the same spot to preserve the history.

But James and Judy don't need to look at anything historic to think about what downtown used to be like.

"I can remember my grandparents talking about the downtown in the 1940s and '50s, and they used to come down and dress to the nines," said James Lawrence. "She would wear a dress, long gloves, a hat and everything.. they passed away around 2000 but were always talking about the demise of downtown and how much they missed the old downtown."

He says now it's nice to see it come back to life.

"I think my grandparents would have been really happy to see this and I'm just glad to see it happen," he said.
