With up to 50 buildings damaged, Cushing city crews and business owners face a big cleanup. Bricks and concrete from buildings fell onto the sidewalks, and business owners are out looking at the damage.

"It's gonna scare everybody just like it scared me last night. I thought the house was shifting off," said Dan Winnie.

Winnie owns several buildings in downtown Cushing, and he's restoring them right now. He planned on opening an antique store this week but instead, he's cleaning up from the earthquake.

"I'd say a third or so of the glass that was in there was broken - on the floor. Unsalvageable," he said.

The city's building inspector says many of the structures were built in the early 1900s, and the amount of damage depends on how well those buildings have been maintained. Winnie says caring for the historic buildings isn't easy.

"They're like a puzzle to figure out what was done 100 years ago and what's still good, what's not. It's not your every day rehab on a house," said Dan Winnie, Cushing property owner.

Once the sun came up today, the city brought out a structural engineer to survey the damage - seeing bricks and concrete from rooftops crumbled to the ground.

Winnie hopes the town steers clear of another one.

"If an aftershock comes, it could bring a lot of these buildings down," he said.

Winnie says he's gonna clean up the store and still hopes to open later this week.
